LPB is an odd book. It's obviously appealed to some people (it was a bestseller in Germany) but it's hard to tell who would enjoy it just by reading it.

Maybe it lost a lot in translation?

None of it is really even bad enough to be interesting, but I read it all anyway because it was such a consummate cloud of fluff.

Sometimes these things happen. I read one book once just to see if it would continue to be the most mediocre by the numbers piece of fluff I had ever read. (Spoiler: it did. I was almost impressed.)
