evelyn_bWell, well, well. I finally managed to type up a list! Lots of nonfiction lately. Several months where I read hardly any books at all, including December which was apparently completely consumed by A Suitable Boy. I clearly still can't figure out which periodicals to count as books. No matter how many times I write "Aeneid," I can't remember which order the vowels go in unless I look it up. Confessions of a Pregnant Cinderella was the last book of 2020! I found it in a Little Free Library at the arboretum. It's a very silly book about a sad billionare and a perky waitress who have inexplicably transcendent chemistry and eventually, a baby. To be honest, I would have liked the guy a lot better if he'd hoarded less of his money, but "billionaires" are, or were, a standard Harlequin masculinity unit for some reason.

Date: 2021-02-22 06:18 pm (UTC)I liked A Fire Upon the Deep! I don't know that I "got" everything out of it that the author wanted me to, but when do I ever? I loved the Skroderiders and the dogpack characters. I think about Peregrine a lot (every time I hear the Chris Stapleton song "Traveller," which gets a lot of airplay where I live) but I don't remember the overarching doom-aversion plot very well.
