Little Wednesday Lost
May. 24th, 2019 10:02 amWhat I've Been Neglecting
This year I've had three goals mostly in conflict with each other: one to read the books I already own (instead of buying new ones and letting my shelves get crowded), another to finish the 99 Novels, and a third, to slow down and actually pay attention to what I've been reading. The third goal has been suffering more than usual lately. I read the first chapter of Heartland (for example), before I realized I had no idea what was going on and had to start over. That's the kind of reading that may as well be staring at a wall. So I need to slow down and start paying attention.
That's my after-the-fact justification for missing this week, and possibly my excuse for skipping next week, too.
What About Game of Thrones?
It was fine! After several weeks of Dragons Every Night trying to catch up, the abrupt end to the roller coaster has left me a little dazed, but I'm happy for everyone who didn't get burninated and glad I managed to get in on the cultural phenomenon action before it was all over. Apparently there was a fandom meltdown! It hasn't extended into my pocket of real life; everyone's just happy that Ghost got his good boy pats once the dragons stopped hogging the creature budget.
What's Next For Reading Wednesdays?
No big changes; I'm just taking a break for a week or two.
